The six main resources
| Resource | Comes from | Spent on |
|---|---|---|
| Food | Farmer's Houses; map farms; chests | Constant troop upkeep. The only resource with a real deficit penalty—negative food roughly doubles training costs and penalizes your army. |
| Silver | Mansions; silver mines on the map | Troop training, gear crafting, reviving defenders. |
| Gold | Premium purchases; Dragon Mounds; events | Revivals, speedups, VIP points, hero unlocks, special features. |
| Wood | Lumberjack's Houses; forest tiles; clan gifts | Building costs. |
| Stone | Stonecutter's Houses; quarry tiles; clan gifts | Building costs. |
| Iron | Foundries; mine tiles; clan gifts | Building costs. |
Special currencies
| Currency | Earned by | Spent on |
|---|---|---|
| Tar | Wellsprings on the map, the Tar Workshop, chests | Fuels Crypt exploration—the gear-and-gem engine of your account. |
| Valor Points (VP) | Combat—monster hunting and PvP | The primary research currency alongside resources. |
| Clan Points (CP) | Clan activity | A separate research pool. Consensus: Army Modernization first. |
| Sacred Potions | Temple production (passive) | Substitute for Gold when reviving fallen troops. |
| Gold Ingots | Throne politics; plunderable via portal attacks | Treasury bonuses purchased by the King, Hand of the King, or Queen. |
| Gems | Crypts (especially Rare Crypts), events | Socketed into gear for permanent stat bonuses—not spent, invested. |
Not in this game
Guides for other games bleed into Total Battle search results constantly. There are no soul stones, crystals, emeralds, or mithril here—if a guide mentions them, it's describing a different game.
Protecting what you have
- The Warehouse shields a portion of stored resources from raids; attackers can only steal what sits above the protection cap.
- A Shield of Peace prevents raids outright—but an open portal bypasses it. Close portals when shielded.
- Unopened resource tokens and chests in your inventory cannot be looted. Veterans deliberately bank resources as unopened items and crack them only when they're about to spend.
Spending discipline
- Hoard speedups, resource tokens, and XP chests, and open them during major events where the same spend also scores event points—double value for the identical resources.
- Request clan help on every construction and research queue before touching a speedup.
- If you spend real money, the Golden Pass is the community-consensus best purchase, ahead of any limited pack.
- Never revive cheap troops with Gold or Sacred Potions—delete and retrain. Reserve revival currency for expensive, hard-to-replace units.
